Letter to the UL from Andover

Sir, –

This morning when I opened the letters inbox for Team UL Edit at ‘The Ringing World’ I found not even a single submission from a member of said legendary society. Can students not write these days? Do they not have smart-phones in the pub and know how to rant after a sess? The state of education today – when I was at UCL we could fill the pages of Pi by the second pint. The Old Bailey would have been shocked … all that money borrowed and not a single touch-screen tapped.

So, I am therefore bound to remind you that eMails can be sent at any time over the weekend to <> and just have to be received before Team UL arrive at the RW Office on Monday morning. It is hardly likely to be that early …

Also I believe I was misquoted by a Miss Wallis (letters, p.858) earlier and would like to set the record straight. I certainly did not say to the Secretary for you to “write anything about anything”. Just because we’ve shipped the Editor off to Yorkshire doesn’t mean that the RW has no standards. What I in fact I said to Miss Wallis was “write on a ringing or uni theme, or even ‘anything about anything'”. So please do rant away; you’ve all passed the course. No doubt Team UL Edit will publish your ramblings if you can put together a simple missive. Sigh.

Gopher for Team UL Edit
