I know the dinner this year is a long way off but like a fine wine they take a while to mature and plan. This year will be our 65th anniversary dinner, which means it is a larger one (like the 60th for those who were around then) catering for around 100 to 120 people (as against 60 to 70 of the last few years).
What I would like to establish is a sort of working party consisting of 2 to 4 people.
What does it involve? Roughly:
1. We need to find a venue, and book it by Lundy (end of February). So initially this will take a few hours of internet/phone research in the next month, then some trips out to see venues that make the short list to decide (A well planned evening or two should suffice).
2. Come summer holiday time, instead of sunning yourself somewhere, meet with the venue to organise a menu and finalise pricing so tickets are ready to go on sale 1st September. Time – two or three evenings/lunchtimes.
3. Autumn term – busy selling tickets etc
4. November – lots of time here – print menu’s, tickets, seating plans etc and sort out any problems the venue throw at you.
If you are interested in organising the 2010 dinner with me – please let me know!
Thanks, Clara
The final plan for the ULSCR Winter Tour on Saturday the 16th January is:
10:15 – 11:00, Rotherwick
11:30 – 12.15, Heckfield
12:30 – 2:30, lunch at the New Inn, Reading Road
3:00 – 3:45, St. Michael and all Angels, Sandhurst
4:15 – 5:00, Church of the Immaculate Conception (1-2-4, 6), Sandhurst
I think this is right, I don’t have all the details with me at home though, hence I haven’t put in the other weights, but I think most are 6 bell except heckfield, which is an anti-clockwise 5.
If anyone who is planning on driving could let me know, as we will need transport between the towers, and everyone else who is coming please let me know too so I can work out numbers and let the pub know (yes Poodle, they do sell badger).
The evening will inevitably end with a curry and possibly some jugged hare.
See you all soon in the new year

Hi All,
There are potentially theatrical goings on! Each year “Get Into London Theatre” has cheap ticket offers for loads of musicals from January to early February:
http://www.seetickets.com/gilt2010/event.asp?o|artist=GILT+OFFER&resultsperpage=1000&genre=musical&filler1=gilt
As a suggestion who would be interested in going to see Hairspray at 7:30 on Tuesday 2nd Feb. Tickets cost £35 (usual price £62.50) for seats in the stalls.
For those who don’t know what Hairspray is about see the trailer: http://www.hairspraythemusical.co.uk/home.php
It’s an awesome show and should be a lot of fun
If Hairspray doesn’t sound like your thing, until Feb 12th “Get Into London Theatre” (http://www.seetickets.com/gilt2010/event.asp?o|artist=GILT+OFFER&resultsperpage=1000&genre=musical&filler1=gilt&filler2=&filler3=) has lots of uber-cheap deals on tickets for musicals and any alternative suggestions as to what show to see are welcomed
This is just a general suggestion to see what interest there might be so please reply asap with either a “Yes Please!” (on here or email the webmaster) or any other suggestions… Since these cheap tickets are only for a limited time it would be great if replies could be quick
New year, new look!
